Job description
Join Oki Pulp & Paper Mills as an Electrical Engineer and help keep our critical industrial systems running safely and efficiently. Based in Palembang, South Sumatra, you will design, implement, and maintain electrical infrastructure for a modern pulp and paper operation. You will collaborate with maintenance, process engineers, and automation specialists to optimize reliability, energy efficiency, and safety across milling lines.
As a hands-on professional, you will translate process needs into robust electrical specifications, oversee electrical installation and commissioning, and ensure compliance with local electrical codes and industry standards. You will monitor power distribution, motor control centers, drives, instrumentation, and instrumentation wiring, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives in maintenance planning and reliability-centered maintenance. Your role will also include troubleshooting complex electrical issues, analyzing downtime data, and creating detailed technical documentation for operations and audits. If you thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are passionate about automation, control systems, and safe, compliant engineering practice, we want to hear from you.
Responsibility
- Design, install, and maintain electrical systems for pulp and paper production lines, including motor control centers, drives, power distribution, and switchgear.
- Develop and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation drawings using CAD tools and engineering standards.
- Lead electrical safety programs, ensure compliance with local codes and international standards, and drive safe work practices across production floors.
- Monitor and optimize energy consumption, perform energy audits, and implement improvements to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical equipment, PLCs, and instrumentation; coordinate preventive maintenance and root-cause analysis.
- Collaborate with process engineers, maintenance teams, and automation specialists to implement control systems and automation projects (PLC/SCADA).
- Prepare commissioning, testing, and validation plans; document results and handover to operations with clear operating procedures.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; professional certification is a plus.
- 2-5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing environments, preferably in pulp, paper, or other heavy process industries.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design, protection schemes, motor control, drives, instrumentation, and control systems (PLC/SCADA).
- Experience with CAD/ECAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical) and reading electrical drawings.
- Familiarity with safety standards, electrical codes, and risk assessment methodologies; strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork, with the ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment, including shift support and on-call rotations if required.
