Join NovaGrid Energy Solutions as an Electrical Power Engineer in Houston. You’ll design, analyze, and optimize electrical power systems for utilities and industrial clients, ensuring reliability, safety, and compliance with industry standards. As a member of our engineering team, you’ll contribute from concept through commissioning on high-impact projects that improve efficiency, resilience, and lifecycle cost performance.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and analysis of electrical power systems (HV/LV) for utility-scale and industrial applications.
- Perform load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and arc-flash studies.
- Develop and review protection schemes, switching plans, and commissioning procedures.
- Model and simulate power networks using ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink.
- Collaborate with project managers, civil/structural teams, and clients to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.
- Support grid interconnection studies and renewable energy integration projects.
- Prepare technical specifications, reports, and deliverables for clients and regulators.
- Provide technical mentorship and lead junior engineers on complex projects.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical power systems design, protection, and reliability.
- Proficiency with ETAP, PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink; familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards.
- Experience with HV/LV switching, protection coordination, SCADA, PLCs, and substation design.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to lead teams.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with grid interconnection studies and renewable energy integration.
- Willingness to travel 10-20% as needed.
