Job description
Join LumenVolt Energy Partners, a leading engineering firm focused on power generation, transmission, and grid modernization. We are seeking a skilled Electrical Power Engineer to design, analyze, and deliver high-impact power systems projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize reliability, safety, and efficiency across distributed energy resources.
You will collaborate with project managers, civil, and controls teams to ensure on-time delivery, rigorous QA/QC, and adherence to industry standards. This role offers visibility into large-scale grid projects, cutting-edge software tools, and a clear path for career growth in a thriving energy market.
Responsibility
- Lead electrical power system design for utility-scale, industrial, and renewable projects including transmission, substation, and distribution components.
- Perform detailed power system studies (short-circuit, load flow, protection coordination, harmonic analysis) using PSS/E, ETAP, and DIgSILENT.
- Develop equipment specifications, datasheets, one-line diagrams, cable schedules, and protective relay schemes.
- Coordinate with project managers, civil, and control systems engineers to ensure schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC standards; support QA/QC reviews and design validation.
- Support field activities from commissioning and testing to startup, troubleshooting, and performance validation.
- Mentor junior engineers; prepare technical documentation, proposals, and training materials.
- Interface with clients and regulators to present design concepts and risk assessments.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; PE license preferred or active pursuit.
- 5+ years of electrical power engineering experience across utility, industrial, or renewable projects.
- Proficiency with power system analysis tools (PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT) and CAD tools (AutoCAD/MicroStation).
- Strong knowledge of protective relaying, SCADA/EMS, and control logic; familiarity with NERC CIP compliance is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; client-facing experience and proposal development.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and travel up to 20% as needed.
