EnerGrid Solutions is actively seeking a seasoned Electrical Power Engineer to join our Houston office. You will design, analyze, and deliver high-reliability power systems for utility-scale and industrial projects.
This role focuses on protective and control schemes, substation design, and grid integration of renewable assets, with opportunities to lead projects from concept to commissioning.
Responsibility
- Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, transient stability) using ETAP, PSS/E, or SKM.
- Design and specify electrical equipment for substations, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems.
- Develop protective relay schemes and control logic; configure SCADA interfaces.
- Lead project execution, including scope, schedule, budgeting, and stakeholder communication.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE standards, and industry best practices; maintain design dossiers.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless handover to operations.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.
- Support field testing, commissioning, and performance verification.
Qualification
- Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical power systems, substation design, and protection.
- Proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E, SKM, or equivalent software; strong analytical skills.
- In-depth knowledge of protection schemes, switchgear, transformers, and switchyard equipment.
- Strong grounding in NEC/IEEE standards, power quality, and reliability metrics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple projects and travel domestically as needed (up to 20%).
- Team player with a proactive problem-solving mindset; PMP or project management experience is a plus.
- U.S. work authorization.
