Job description

Kuok Group is seeking an experienced Environment Health Safety Lead to champion safety, health, and environmental performance across our operational data centres and construction sites in Johor. You will translate regulatory requirements into practical actions, build robust EHS programs, and lead efforts to protect people, assets, and the environment while supporting business objectives.

In this role, you will collaborate with site leadership, facilities, construction teams and contractors to design and implement risk-based safety systems, drive continuous improvement, and foster a strong safety culture. You will be accountable for incident investigations, risk assessments, training, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and Kuok Group standards. Your leadership will ensure safe work practices, robust contractor management, and effective environmental stewardship across multiple sites, including Sedenak data centre operations.

Key responsibilities include leading EHS audits, developing action plans, and reporting performance to senior management; managing permits to work, lockout/tagout, and energy isolation; coordinating emergency response drills and incident management; overseeing waste management, energy efficiency, and environmental monitoring; and coaching teams on hazard identification and safe operating procedures.

Responsibility

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs aligned with local regulations and Kuok Group standards for data centre operations and construction sites.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and ensure timely reporting to management.
  • Conduct risk assessments, method statements, and ensure proper permits to work, lockout/tagout, and contractor management.
  • Coordinate internal and external EHS audits, track corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement across sites.
  • Ensure environmental compliance, including waste management, energy efficiency, emissions control, and resource conservation.
  • Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and safety communications to foster a proactive safety culture among employees and contractors.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and incident response to protect people and assets.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of EHS leadership experience in construction and/or data centre environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian regulations and international standards (OSHA principles, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Proven experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action closure.
  • Excellent communication, training, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence safety culture at all levels.
  • Experience with permits to work, lockout/tagout, risk assessments, and contractor management.
  • Proficiency in EHS data collection, auditing, reporting, and developing management dashboards.
  • Willingness to travel to site locations as required and adapt to a dynamic, multi-site environment.
