Job description
Join our leading road construction team as a Senior Project Manager in Phoenix, AZ. We deliver large-scale paving and highway projects with safety, quality, and on-time delivery at the core. This role reports to the Director of Civil Operations and leads cross-functional teams to execute complex roadway builds.
As a key contributor, you will manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field operations while ensuring compliance with DOT standards and industry best practices.
Responsibility
- Lead project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for road construction programs, including paving, bridges, and drainage works.
- Develop and maintain project baselines (scope, schedule, budget) and proactively manage risks and changes.
- Oversee field operations, subcontractor performance, safety programs, and quality control to meet specs and timelines.
- Coordinate with design teams, inspectors, utility companies, and stakeholders to align on scope and sequencing.
- Manage procurement, material tracking, and cost control to optimize expenditures and maintain profitability.
- Ensure compliance with DOT/municipal standards, environmental regulations, and permit requirements.
- Prepare and communicate progress reports, dashboards, and executive briefings to leadership.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; master's preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive road construction or heavy civil project experience.
- Professional certification (PMP, CCM, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of DOT standards, specifications, and inspection processes.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills with ability to manage multidisciplinary groups.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, Autodesk, Primavera).
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed and work extended hours when required.
