Waftech Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a proactive Equipment Engineer / Technical Support Engineer to join our growing team in Bayan Lepas, Penang. In this role, you will lead alpha system assembly, system integration, and thorough testing to ensure peak performance, reliability, and manufacturability. You will work hands-on with electronics hardware, firmware interfaces, and mechanical systems, diagnosing complex issues, implementing robust fixes, and contributing to design improvements.
As a key member of the engineering group, you will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and service teams to deliver solutions that meet customer requirements and regulatory standards. You will develop and document assembly procedures, test plans, and installation guides that enable smooth handoffs to production and field service. You will participate in qualification activities, FAT/SAT, and on-site deployments, occasionally traveling to customer sites when required. The role also involves data-driven analysis to identify root causes, drive continuous improvement, and optimize yield, cycle times, and product reliability. Responsibility
- Lead alpha system assembly, integration, and rigorous testing to ensure performance and reliability.
- Develop and execute test protocols, qualification activities, and debugging to meet design specifications.
- Provide hands-on technical support to customers and internal teams, diagnosing hardware and software issues.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve design, assembly, and production challenges.
- Create and maintain assembly procedures, test documentation, and user guides.
- Participate in FAT/SAT activities, field installations, and on-site support when required.
- Drive continuous improvement in yield, reliability, and serviceability through data-driven analysis.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field.
- Hands-on experience with equipment assembly, system integration, testing, and debugging.
- Strong knowledge of hardware-software integration, instrumentation, and lab tools.
- Experience with PCB assemblies, cables, harnesses, and mechanical integration.
- Excellent troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and technical documentation skills.
- Customer-facing experience and ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness to travel for on-site support as needed.
- Knowledge of safety and quality standards such as ISO 9001 and IPC would be a plus.
