As a Field Engineer for semiconductor equipment, you will be the on-site expert responsible for installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of critical tools used in wafer fabrication and testing. You will collaborate with customers, process engineers, and equipment vendors to ensure uptime, optimize performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives in manufacturing environments.

Your daily work includes troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and software issues, performing preventive maintenance, calibrations, and firmware updates, and collecting operational data to drive root-cause analyses. You will also assist with equipment upgrades, factory acceptance testing, and the deployment of process changes that improve yields and reliability.

Responsibility

  • Install, commission, and validate semiconductor equipment at customer sites in the East Region, ensuring integration with existing processes.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting and repair to minimize downtime; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibration, and software/firmware updates to maximize tool uptime and performance.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to optimize equipment settings for yield improvement and process stability.
  • Document service activities, create detailed service reports, and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, new tool installation, and acceptance testing with customers.
  • Provide hands-on training and knowledge transfer to customer teams and junior technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards, and maintain accurate records for audits.

Qualification

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline.
  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor equipment or manufacturing technology; exposure to lithography, deposition, etch tools is a plus.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret schematics and process flows.
  • Prior field service or on-site support experience; willingness to travel within Singapore; valid driving license.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom practices; basic programming or automation knowledge (PLC, HMI) is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; additional regional languages are a benefit.
