Join Cohu, Inc., a leader in semiconductor test equipment, as a Field Service Engineer based in Malaysia. In this role you will lead on-site installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of advanced inspection and measurement systems at customer sites. You will be responsible for commissioning new equipment, validating performance, and ensuring seamless operation to maximize uptime and product throughput.
As a field service specialist, you will install, configure, and calibrate hardware and software components, rapidly diagnose issues, and execute effective repairs. You will provide hands-on technical support to customers, deliver on-site training to operators and maintenance staff, and document service activities with clear, accurate reporting. Travel to customer sites across Malaysia and neighboring regions will be a key part of the role, requiring strong organizational skills and a customer-driven mindset.
You will collaborate with design and engineering teams to relay field feedback, contribute to continuous product improvements, and uphold safety and quality standards. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that rewards proactive problem solving, attention to detail, and a commitment to service excellence.
Responsibility
- Install, commission, and calibrate Cohu equipment at customer sites across Malaysia
- Perform preventive maintenance and timely repairs to minimize downtime
- Diagnose hardware and software issues and implement effective resolutions
- Provide on-site and remote technical support, training, and knowledge transfer to customers
- Document service activities, generate detailed service reports, and update customer records
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to relay field feedback and contribute to product improvements
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards during all field activities
Qualification
- Diploma or degree in electronics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or related field; semiconductor equipment experience preferred
- Hands-on field service experience with complex instrumentation, installation, calibration, and repairs
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings; familiarity with PLCs and control software is a plus
- Excellent communication and customer facing skills; fluent in English; Malay language skills are advantageous
- Willingness to travel, lift equipment, and work at customer sites for extended periods; valid driver’s license
- Training or certification in safety practices and proactive in maintaining accurate service records
