Job description

Join Mediatek's Firmware Application team in Singapore as a Firmware Application Engineer. In this role, you will support monitor projects on the scaler System-on-Chip (SoC) platform, collaborating across hardware, firmware, and software validation teams to deliver high-quality display solutions. This position offers hands-on firmware development in a dynamic, cross-functional environment and the opportunity to influence next-generation monitor technology.

As a key contributor, you will design, implement, and optimize firmware for display pipelines, scaler algorithms, and image processing blocks. You will debug firmware to meet stringent performance and power targets, profile code under real-world workloads, and drive robust integration with multimedia software stacks, device drivers, and APIs. You will also contribute to test automation, release processes, and documentation to ensure repeatable success across product cycles.

You will collaborate closely with hardware designers to bring up new platforms, identify root causes, and provide robust solutions for customer issues. You will participate in design reviews, share knowledge through code reviews, and help define roadmaps for future scaler features. A strong candidate has hands-on experience with embedded firmware on SoC platforms, solid C/C++ skills, and a deep understanding of RTOS environments and debugging tools.

Mediatek is a global leader in wireless and display technologies, offering a collaborative culture focused on innovation, quality, and continuous learning. If you are passionate about video display technology and want to contribute to cutting-edge monitor solutions, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibility

  • Design, implement, and optimize firmware for monitor projects on scaler SoC platforms, ensuring high performance and low power consumption.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, software developers, and validation teams to define requirements, interfaces, and test plans.
  • Debug, profile, and tune firmware across the embedded software stack, including kernel drivers, middleware, and real-time operating system components.
  • Integrate firmware with display pipelines (scaler, HDMI/DisplayPort, color management, and image signal processing blocks) and ensure robust release quality.
  • Develop and maintain firmware documentation, APIs, and test automation; contribute to CI/CD pipelines and version control processes.
  • Support hardware bring-up, perform root-cause analysis, and provide actionable fixes for customer issues and field reports.
  • Participate in design reviews, mentorship, and roadmap discussions to drive future scaler features and platform improvements.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience, preferably on SoC platforms for multimedia or display technologies.
  • Strong proficiency in C and C++, experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), and low-level programming techniques.
  • Solid understanding of digital video pipelines, display scaling, color management, and multimedia interfaces (HDMI/DisplayPort); experience with ISP or video processing a plus.
  • Proficiency with debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers), version control (Git), and build systems; familiarity with scripting (Python, shell) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment in Singapore.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt to new technologies, and contribute to a culture of quality and innovation.
