Responsibility
- Lead planning and execution of active forest management projects (thinning, reforestation, habitat restoration) from design to completion.
- Conduct timber cruising and volume estimation using standard forest mensuration methods.
- Manage data collection, GIS mapping, and inventory analysis to inform decision making.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety protocols (OSHA), and best management practices.
- Coordinate with landowners, agencies, contractors, and local communities; prepare technical reports and stakeholder presentations.
- Oversee field crews, scheduling, training, and performance management.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and procurement; generate progress and compliance reports.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
- 3+ years of forestry field experience; leadership role preferred.
- Proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS), GPS data collection, and basic remote sensing.
- Experience with timber cruising, stand exams, growth and yield modeling, and silvicultural planning.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal forestry regulations; familiarity with NEPA/CEQA processes a plus.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven ability to manage field safety, risk assessments, and incident reporting.
- Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and physically demanding environments.
