Job description
Join Evergreen Timber & Conservation as a Forestry Project Manager in Portland, Oregon. You will lead field operations, coordinate timber inventories, and drive sustainable forest management initiatives across multiple sites.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with biologists, engineers, landowners, and local agencies to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in compliance with all environmental and safety standards.
What you’ll do will include leading teams in the field, planning activities, and ensuring data quality. This is a hands-on leadership role with meaningful environmental impact.
Responsibility
- Lead forest inventory planning and timber cruising across assigned sites to establish accurate volume estimates.
- Develop and execute fieldwork plans, schedules, and safety protocols for crews in diverse environments.
- Coordinate contractors, temporary staff, and partners to ensure high-quality data collection and site operations.
- Prepare progress reports, budgets, and stakeholder communications to keep projects on track.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and sustainable forestry practices.
- Analyze field data using GIS and forestry software, producing actionable insights for management decisions.
- Support reforestation, habitat restoration, and wildfire mitigation initiatives as part of project scope.
- Liaise with landowners, state/federal agencies, and community groups to align goals and expectations.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or higher in Forestry, Natural Resources, or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of forestry field experience or equivalent project management experience.
- Strong proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) and field data collection methods.
- Experience with timber inventories, cruising, and volume estimation.
- Proven project management, budgeting, and scheduling abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prepare clear reports for stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel; ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Safety training certification (OSHA, First Aid) or equivalent is a plus.
