Verdant Timber Solutions is seeking a skilled Forestry Project Manager to lead planning, execution, and oversight of multi-site forestry initiatives in the Pacific Northwest. This leadership role blends field coordination with strategic analysis to deliver environmentally responsible timber production, stakeholder engagement, and compliant operations. You will collaborate with foresters, engineers, regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, and commercial partners to optimize timber yields while preserving biodiversity.
As a key member of our team, you will drive project milestones, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and communicate progress to senior leadership. The ideal candidate combines a strong forestry background with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, and a passion for sustainable resource management.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end forestry projects from planning through harvesting and monitoring to achieve sustainability and production targets.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation across multiple sites to maximize efficiency.
- Supervise field crews and contractors; ensure safety, quality, and regulatory compliance on all worksites.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal forestry regulations, environmental laws, and required permits.
- Conduct timber inventories, growth modeling, stand exams, and utilization of GIS/remote sensing to inform decisions.
- Coordinate with government agencies, Indigenous communities, and stakeholders; prepare progress and environmental impact reports.
- Develop and implement sustainable harvesting plans, reforestation, and biodiversity conservation initiatives.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of forestry project management or field experience with a track record of leading teams.
- Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation or equivalent certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of timber harvest planning, silviculture, and stand management.
- Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) and data analysis; experience with inventory software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work in diverse field conditions, travel across sites, and operate safely in remote settings; valid driver's license.
- Safety training (H2S, WHMIS, First Aid) and a commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment.
