Job description
Northwest Timber Co. is seeking a seasoned Forestry Project Manager to lead field operations across timberlands in the Pacific Northwest. You will coordinate forest inventory, silviculture planning, and contractor management while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
In this role you will drive project scope, timelines, and quality across multiple sites. You will partner with GIS analysts, wildlife and watershed specialists, and landowners to optimize outcomes for sustainable timber production and ecosystem health. Responsibility
- Lead planning and execution of forestry projects from inception to completion, including scoping, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Manage field crews, contractors, and equipment across multiple sites while maintaining high safety standards.
- Oversee forest inventory, timber cruising, volume estimation, and yield modeling to support harvesting decisions.
- Ensure compliance with BMPs, environmental permits, wildlife protection guidelines, and OSHA requirements.
- Collaborate with GIS specialists for mapping, data collection, and reporting of stand characteristics.
- Develop and monitor project budgets, timelines, and progress reports for stakeholders.
- Engage with landowners, regulatory agencies, and local communities to communicate plans and address concerns.
- Monitor reforestation and silviculture treatments to meet regeneration objectives.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in forestry, natural resources, or related field; master's preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of field forestry experience with project management exposure.
- Strong knowledge of silviculture, timber measurement, forest inventory methods, and growth modeling.
- Proficiency with GIS tools (ArcGIS or QGIS) and data analysis software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Valid driver's license; ability to operate in rugged terrain and variable weather; willingness to travel regionally.
- Experience with budgeting, contracting, vendor management, and safety program development.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations, BMPs, and sustainable forest management practices.
