What you’ll do includes managing multi-year projects, coordinating harvest planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, and reporting to senior leadership. You’ll leverage GIS, remote sensing, and forest inventory data to optimize outcomes while upholding environmental stewardship and safety standards.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end forestry projects from initiation to close-out, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Develop and approve harvest plans, silvicultural prescriptions, and reforestation strategies in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including field crews, contractors, and compliance officers; manage schedules and budgets.
- Monitor project performance using KPIs, GIS data, and field audits; prepare reports for clients and leadership.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations; implement best practices for sustainable forestry.
- Engage with Indigenous communities, local agencies, and clients to align objectives and secure permits.
- Manage risk assessment, mitigations, and change management; maintain documentation and audit readiness.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of forestry project management, operations, or silviculture experience.
- Strong knowledge of silviculture practices, harvest planning, timber estimation, and forest inventory data.
- Proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS), remote sensing, and data analytics; experience with forest inventory software.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to collaborate with Indigenous communities and agencies.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, permits, and safety standards; proven risk management ability.
- Project management certification (PMP, RPF) preferred; ability to manage budgets and schedules.
- Travel readiness and adaptability to field conditions.
