Job description

Evergreen Forestry Group is seeking a skilled Forestry Project Manager to lead sustainable timberland management and conservation initiatives in Vancouver, British Columbia. In this role, you will oversee field operations, data collection, stakeholder engagement, and comprehensive project reporting. The ideal candidate brings hands-on forest management experience, strong analytical skills, and a passion for ecological stewardship.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will translate strategic objectives into actionable work plans, ensure regulatory compliance, manage budgets, and collaborate with Indigenous communities, government agencies, and industry partners to advance responsible forestry practices.

Responsibility

  • Lead forestry project planning from initiation to close, including scope, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Manage field crews, safety, schedules, and data collection across multiple sites.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive forest management plans aligned with sustainability goals.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders including Indigenous communities, regulators, and NGOs to ensure transparent collaboration.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal forestry regulations and permit requirements.
  • Monitor project progress using GIS, remote sensing, and field observations; analyze data to inform decisions.
  • Prepare technical reports, budgets, procurement plans, and progress updates for executives and funders.
  • Manage vendor contracts, equipment leasing, and service providers to optimize efficiency.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of forestry project management experience, ideally in private or public sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of BC Forest Acts, Forest Practices Code, environmental regulations, and sustainability standards.
  • Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS), data analysis, GPS, and forestry data collection methods.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams, manage budgets, and work independently in field conditions.
  • Project management certification (PMP) or equivalent is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel within the region as needed and maintain safety-focused operations.
