Beacon Hill Theological Institute invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer in Theology to join our Faculty of Religious Studies. This role centers on dynamic teaching across undergraduate and graduate programs, active scholarly work, and mentorship that shapes future ministers, scholars, and leaders.
We seek candidates who can illuminate classical and contemporary theological perspectives while fostering inclusive dialogue, critical thinking, and practical application within communities of faith and learning. Responsibility
- Teach a rotating portfolio of theology courses across undergraduate and graduate levels (e.g., Systematic Theology, Biblical Studies, Ethics, Church History).
- Develop and revise curricula, syllabi, and assessment strategies that reflect best practices in higher education and faith-based learning.
- Supervise student research projects, theses, and internships; provide timely feedback and mentorship.
- Engage in scholarly research and publish findings; present at conferences and contribute to departmental goals.
- Participate in department and college governance, committee work, and program development.
- Foster partnerships with local congregations, denominations, and faith-based organizations for practical training and community engagement.
- Advise students on academic pathways, career planning, and spiritual formation; support inclusive and accessible teaching practices.
Qualification
- Terminal degree in Theology or a closely related field (PhD preferred; ABD considered).
- Demonstrated teaching excellence with experience in online, hybrid, or in-person modalities.
- Active or emerging scholarly research agenda with a record of peer-reviewed or equivalent work.
- Evident ability to integrate faith and learning within an inclusive, diverse academic community.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective collaboration and mentorship abilities.
- Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and student advising.
- Commitment to the mission of a faith-informed university and to engaging with faith-based communities.
