Responsibilities include teaching a range of philosophy courses, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring students, and participating in governance and service within the university.
Responsibility
- Deliver high-quality instruction across undergraduate and graduate philosophy courses, including introductory logic, ethics, metaphysics, epistemology, and specialization seminars.
- Design and update syllabi, assessments, and active-learning curricula that reflect diverse perspectives and inclusive teaching practices.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate theses, senior projects, and graduate work as applicable.
- Engage in scholarly research, publish in peer-reviewed venues, and pursue opportunities for external funding and collaborations.
- Contribute to department governance, committee work, and strategic planning.
- Participate in community outreach, public philosophy events, and interdisciplinary initiatives across the university.
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in teaching, mentoring, and service.
Qualification
- PhD in Philosophy or closely related field by start date; evidence of potential for scholarly contribution.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentorship with a commitment to inclusive pedagogy.
- Strong publication record or demonstrated potential for impactful research in core areas such as ethics, logic, metaphysics, epistemology.
- Experience developing and delivering diverse course offerings and curriculum strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to obtain research funding or demonstrate a plan to pursue grants and fellowships.
- Commitment to DEI principles and inclusion in classroom and campus life.
