Join Lumen Arts Collective, a leading fine arts organization dedicated to innovative contemporary art experiences in the heart of New York City. We are seeking a proactive Gallery Program Manager to oversee exhibition curating support, artist relations, and the day-to-day operations of our Chelsea gallery space. This role blends curatorial insight with strategic operations to deliver memorable experiences for artists, collectors, and the public.
As a cornerstone of our team, you will collaborate with curators, artists, educators, and partners to develop innovative programs that elevate emerging and mid-career artists within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibility
- Collaborate with the Chief Curator to plan and execute compelling exhibitions, artist talks, and education programs.
- Coordinate logistics for artwork loans, installations, shipping, insurance, and condition reports.
- Develop and manage exhibition schedules, budgets, and timelines to ensure on-time delivery.
- Engage with collectors, institutions, and artists to cultivate relationships and sponsorship opportunities.
- Oversee gallery operations, staffing, and visitor services to deliver a high-quality audience experience.
- Curate and update the gallery’s digital presence, including web listings and social media updates for each show.
- Support grant and fundraising efforts by preparing proposals and progress reports.
- Coordinate educational programming, tours, and community outreach activities.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field; equivalents considered.
- 3–5 years of experience in galleries, museums, or arts organizations with exposure to exhibition planning.
- Strong understanding of contemporary art markets and artist practices.
- Excellent project management, budgeting, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with experience in donor and media relations.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and basic design tools; familiarity with CMS and exhibition planning software is a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for openings and events.
- Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
