Lumina Fine Arts, a premier contemporary gallery in the heart of New York, seeks a strategic and creative Gallery Programs Director to lead curatorial initiatives and community engagement.
In this full-time role, you will shape exhibition concepts, coordinate timelines, manage budgets, and collaborate with artists, lenders, collectors, and partner institutions to elevate the gallery's presence and impact.
The ideal candidate combines strong curatorial vision with operational excellence and a passion for expanding access to contemporary fine art.
Responsibility
- Lead development and execution of rotating and thematic exhibitions from concept to installation
- Collaborate with curators, artists, lenders, and partners to secure artworks and logistics
- Manage exhibition budgets, timelines, and procurement
- Coordinate gallery programming, talks, tours, and educational events
- Develop audience engagement strategies, including outreach to diverse communities
- Oversee catalogues, wall texts, and interpretive materials
- Negotiate loans, insurance, and shipping with appropriate stakeholders
- Work with marketing to create compelling campaigns and press opportunities
Qualification
- Bachelor or master in art history, museum studies, or a related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a gallery, museum, or arts organization
- Proven track record in curating and coordinating exhibitions
- Strong project management and budgeting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including PR and outreach
- Ability to build relationships with artists, lenders, patrons, and media
- Proficiency with collection management systems and event software
- Commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusive programming
