Lumina Fine Arts seeks a dynamic Gallery Programs Manager to lead curatorial initiatives, exhibitions, and audience engagement for our NYC private gallery and community programs. This role blends project leadership with artistic vision, ensuring high-caliber exhibitions, artist collaborations, and accessible programming.
As a core member of the curatorial and operations team, you will manage exhibition timelines, budgets, vendor contracts, and partner relationships while elevating visitor experience through thoughtful programming, education, and marketing strategies. Responsibility
- Develop and oversee all gallery programs, including exhibitions, artist talks, screenings, workshops, and educational events from concept to completion.
- Lead the exhibition planning calendar, budgeting, and vendor negotiations to ensure timely, on-budget launches.
- Collaborate with curators, artists, lenders, partners, and institutions to produce compelling shows and innovative programming.
- Coordinate installation, de-installation, conservation, shipping logistics, and compliance with handling standards.
- Design and execute audience engagement strategies, including outreach to schools, community groups, and diverse audiences.
- Oversee marketing, press coordination, catalogs, digital content, and social media for exhibitions to maximize impact and attendance.
- Manage relationships with sponsors, donors, and grant programs; assist with reporting and grant administration as needed.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Art History, Museum Studies, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in gallery operations, curatorial support, or arts administration; experience in a NYC gallery or museum context strongly preferred.
- Strong project management, budgeting, and contract negotiation skills with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to liaise effectively with artists, lenders, institutions, press, and audiences.
- Proficiency with gallery management software, CRM systems, MS Office; familiarity with design tools is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accessibility and inclusion in programming.
- Knowledge of art handling, shipping, installation standards, and safety protocols within a gallery environment.
