Job description

TerraNova Geosciences is seeking a motivated Geologist to join our Denver-based exploration and field operations team. You will work on mineral resource assessments, environmental geology projects, and urban geotechnical investigations. The ideal candidate combines solid field experience with strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to safety.

As a key member of our team, you will conduct field mapping, collect samples, assist with data interpretation, and support client deliverables from drill sites to final reports. This role offers growth opportunities in ore deposit modeling, GIS-based analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with engineers and environmental scientists.

We value problem-solving ability, meticulous data management, and the drive to work across diverse terrains—from rocky outcrops to urban development sites. If you’re ready to advance your geology career with a dynamic and client-focused firm, apply today.

Responsibility

  • Lead or assist field-based geological mapping, sampling, and logging across projects in Colorado and adjacent regions.
  • Collect and curate rock, soil, and mineral samples; maintain chain-of-custody and QA/QC documentation.
  • Interpret geological data using GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS), plotting cross-sections and geological maps.
  • Contribute to resource assessments, mineral potential evaluations, and drilling program support.
  • Prepare technical reports, figure captions, and presentations for clients and regulators.
  • Collaborate with engineers, hydrologists, and environmental scientists to integrate geology with geotechnical and environmental analyses.
  • Ensure field operations comply with safety protocols, permitting, and site-specific requirements.
  • Assist with mentoring junior staff and coordinating field logistics for multi-site projects.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 2+ years of field geology experience; exploration, mining, or environmental geology are acceptable.
  • Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS or QGIS) and basic data management; experience with Petrel or Leapfrog is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of rock types, structural geology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy; ability to interpret core logs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; experience preparing technical reports and client deliverables.
  • Ability to work in varying field conditions, lift heavy field gear, and travel to project sites as required (domestic travel).
  • Valid driver’s license and a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience in urban geotechnical or environmental projects.
