Join SwiftSea Logistics, a premium provider of global shipping solutions. We are seeking a seasoned Global Shipping Operations Manager to lead cargo movements, optimize routes, and ensure compliance across all import/export activities. Based in Rotterdam, NL, you will collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customers to deliver excellence in a fast-paced environment.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to influence end-to-end supply chain performance, implement best-in-class processes, and drive measurable improvements in on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end shipping operations for multiple lanes (ocean, air, and multimodal freight) to ensure on-time delivery and cost efficiency.
- Design and implement standardized processes for order entry, documentation, and carrier handoffs to reduce cycle times.
- Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to optimize routing, capacity planning, and contingency management.
- Oversee customs compliance, import/export documentation, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor KPIs (OTIF, transit times, cost per shipment, detention/demurrage) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead a high-performing operations team, provide coaching, and manage vendor relationships and performance.
- Implement risk management strategies and ensure data integrity in WMS/TMS systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent).
- Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication and transparent reporting.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; master’s degree a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of operations experience in shipping/logistics with proven leadership capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of ocean and air freight, incoterms, customs regulations, and import/export documentation.
- Proficiency with TMS/WMS systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and data analytics tools; advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Fluent English; additional Dutch or German is a plus; readiness to travel as needed.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
