Responsibility

  • Provide individual and small-group counseling to students from diverse backgrounds to support academic success, personal growth, and career exploration.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive guidance curriculum aligned with state standards and SEL best practices.
  • Advise students on course selection, academic planning, graduation requirements, and postsecondary pathways (college, vocational training, apprenticeships).
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and community partners to identify barriers and connect students with appropriate supports.
  • Deliver crisis intervention, risk assessment, and timely referrals to mental health resources as needed.
  • Utilize data-driven approaches to monitor student progress, maintain confidential records, and evaluate program impact.
  • Lead college and career readiness events, workshops, and college application assistance sessions.
  • Advocate for equitable access to resources and services for all students, with a focus on culturally sustaining practices.

Qualification

  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current or eligible State of Washington School Counselor license.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in school counseling or a related setting.
  • Strong knowledge of counseling theories, career development, and social-emotional learning frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and intercultural competency skills.
  • Experience with data-informed decision making and familiarity with student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool, Skyward).
  • Crisis intervention training and familiarity with trauma-informed practices.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, confidentiality, and ongoing professional growth.
