Join BrightPath Guidance Center, a leading provider of student support services, where you will empower learners to navigate academics, careers, and life challenges. We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative Guidance Counselor to join our dynamic team in Boston.
As a Guidance Counselor, you will develop and implement counseling programs, provide one on one and small group sessions, and partner with teachers, families, and administrators to support student success.
Responsibility
- Provide individualized counseling to students addressing academic, personal, and career concerns.
- Develop and deliver group counseling sessions and workshops on resilience, study skills, and decision making.
- Assess student needs using standardized tools and maintain accurate records in compliance with privacy laws.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create supportive learning environments.
- Facilitate college and career planning, including major selection, internships, and postsecondary options.
- Refer students to school resources, community partners, and mental health services as appropriate.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment, coordinate crisis intervention when needed.
- Participate in program evaluation and data-driven improvement initiatives.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in school counseling or psychology; licensure as a professional school counselor preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of counseling experience in a school or educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of developmental psychology, career assessment tools, and college admissions processes.
- Excellent communication, listening, and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with privacy laws and ethical guidelines (FERPA, HIPAA as applicable).
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple caseloads; experience with data tracking and reporting.
