As a Guidance Counselor, you will develop and implement counseling programs, provide one on one and small group sessions, and partner with teachers, families, and administrators to support student success.

Responsibility

  • Provide individualized counseling to students addressing academic, personal, and career concerns.
  • Develop and deliver group counseling sessions and workshops on resilience, study skills, and decision making.
  • Assess student needs using standardized tools and maintain accurate records in compliance with privacy laws.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create supportive learning environments.
  • Facilitate college and career planning, including major selection, internships, and postsecondary options.
  • Refer students to school resources, community partners, and mental health services as appropriate.

Qualification

  • Master’s degree in school counseling or psychology; licensure as a professional school counselor preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of counseling experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of developmental psychology, career assessment tools, and college admissions processes.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and crisis intervention skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with privacy laws and ethical guidelines (FERPA, HIPAA as applicable).
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple caseloads; experience with data tracking and reporting.
