As a key member of the counseling department, you will provide individual and group guidance, coordinate with families and faculty, and contribute to a safe and inclusive school climate.
Responsibility
- Deliver individual and small group counseling to support academic progress, social skills, and emotional wellbeing.
- Develop and implement comprehensive counseling programs aligned with district standards and best practices.
- Guide college, career, and postsecondary planning, including FAFSA assistance and scholarship strategies.
- Coordinate crisis intervention, safety planning, and partner with social services as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and community resources to support student success.
- Assess student needs using evidence-based tools; monitor progress and adjust plans accordingly.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with FERPA and ethical guidelines.
- Promote equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices across all activities.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
- Current state certification or school counselor license in NY, or eligibility for reciprocity and licensure.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in school counseling or equivalent setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid, and career assessment tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff.
- Training in crisis intervention and safety planning; ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
- Experience with student information systems, data tracking, and assessment software; data-driven decision making.
