BrightPath Education Group is seeking a dedicated Guidance Counselor to support students in New York City. This role focuses on social-emotional learning, academic planning, career exploration, and college readiness.
As part of our student success team, you will collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a data-driven, trauma-informed counseling program that fosters resilience, motivation, and achievement.
Responsibility
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to support social-emotional learning and academic planning.
- Develop and implement comprehensive career exploration and college readiness programs.
- Assess student needs, maintain confidential documentation, and monitor progress using data-driven practices.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify at-risk students and coordinate interventions.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed; refer to external mental health services when appropriate.
- Design and deliver classroom guidance lessons on study skills, time management, decision making, and resilience.
- Support families through parent meetings, workshop sessions, and resource referrals.
- Maintain compliance with district, state, and confidentiality policies; participate in program evaluation.
Qualification
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field.
- Valid New York State School Counselor license or eligibility for licensure.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in school counseling or related setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of developmental psychology and adolescent development.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and crisis intervention skills.
- Experience with career guidance, college admissions processes, and financial aid resources.
- Proficiency with student information systems, data analysis, and confidentiality standards (FERPA).
- Commitment to equity, inclusivity, and culturally responsive practices.
