Northwest Pathways Education is seeking a thoughtful and proactive Guidance Counselor to support students in planning their academic and career futures. This full-time role combines counseling, program development, and collaboration with teachers and families to create a thriving learning environment.
As a Guidance Counselor, you will help students identify strengths, manage challenges, prepare for college or post-secondary options, and develop life skills that ensure long-term success. You will partner with teachers, administrators, and families to implement comprehensive guidance programs that foster equity, resilience, and achievement.
Responsibility
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic planning, career exploration, and personal/social development.
- Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons on college and career readiness, social-emotional learning, and post-secondary options.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administration to monitor student progress and adapt guidance plans accordingly.
- Administer and interpret assessments (e.g., interest inventories, personality assessments) to inform student planning.
- Support students in college applications, scholarships, financial aid processes, and internship opportunities.
- Provide crisis intervention and refer students to appropriate mental health resources as needed.
- Maintain accurate records, create data-driven reports, and contribute to school-wide equity and access initiatives.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Counseling, School Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid state school counseling license or equivalent credential.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in school or guidance counseling preferred.
- Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid, and career development resources.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with diverse student populations.
- Crisis intervention training and ability to develop safety and support plans.
- Proficiency with counseling software, data tracking, and a commitment to data-informed decision making.
