Emerald City Learning Institute is seeking a dedicated Guidance Counselor to join our student services team in Seattle. The role supports academic planning, career exploration, and social-emotional development for high school students.
As a School Counselor, you will partner with teachers, families, and community resources to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment that enables every student to thrive.

Responsibility
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to students, focusing on academic planning, personal/social development, and college/career readiness.
- Develop and deliver structured guidance lessons and programs aligned with school goals and state standards.
- Assess student needs, create action plans, and coordinate referrals to on- or off-campus resources.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to monitor progress and address barriers to learning.
- Maintain accurate, confidential counseling records in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
- Assist with course selection, graduation planning, and post-secondary planning processes.
- Respond to crisis situations with appropriate intervention and safety protocols; provide ongoing support as needed.
- Build partnerships with community organizations to expand opportunities for internships, scholarships, and enrichment activities.
Qualification
- Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
- WA State School Counselor certification or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of school counseling experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of college admissions processes, FAFSA, scholarships, and career exploration resources.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; ability to engage diverse student populations and families.
- Data-driven mindset with experience using student information systems and assessment tools.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
- Proficiency with technology and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office).
