Emerald City School District is seeking a compassionate and data-driven Guidance Counselor to join our student services team. In this full-time role, you will partner with teachers, families, and community partners to support the academic, social-emotional, and career development of students across grade levels. Responsibility
- Provide individual and group counseling to K-12 students addressing academics, social-emotional well-being, behavior, and transition planning.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive guidance curriculum aligned with state standards and SEL frameworks.
- Conduct college and career readiness activities, including college visits, resume workshops, and scholarship guidance.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to coordinate supports and monitor student progress.
- Maintain confidential records and use data to inform interventions and program improvements.
- Deliver crisis intervention and connect students with appropriate mental health resources when needed.
- Participate in student planning meetings, IEPs and 504 plans as applicable within the district.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field; credential as a School Counselor in Washington or ability to obtain.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in school counseling or equivalent environment.
- Active state license or eligibility to obtain licensure as a School Counselor in Washington.
- Strong knowledge of SEL, trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, and referral networks.
- Experience with data-driven decision making, progress monitoring, and guidance management software.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to engage with diverse students, families, and staff.
- Commitment to equity, inclusivity, and culturally responsive practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in a fast-paced educational setting.
