Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Guidance Counselor to join our dynamic education team in Seattle, WA. This full-time role focuses on empowering students to reach their academic, personal, and career goals within a supportive school environment.

As a key member of the Student Services team, you will provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and prevention programs. You will collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and community partners to remove barriers and promote equity.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong ethical standards, culturally responsive practice, and a data-driven mindset to track progress and inform interventions.

Responsibility

  • Provide confidential individual and group counseling to students facing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
  • Conduct crisis assessment and timely intervention; develop safety plans as needed.
  • Facilitate college and career readiness programs, including testing, college applications, scholarships, and internship opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and community resources to create and implement student success plans.
  • Conduct small-group counseling, check-ins, and mental health promotion activities.
  • Maintain accurate records in student information systems; prepare progress reports and referrals.
  • Develop and deliver prevention and SEL programs; promote positive school climate.
  • Support IEP/504 planning in collaboration with special education staff.

Qualification

  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid state school counselor license or eligibility in Washington state or equivalent licensure for the location.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in school counseling or a related setting.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP/504 processes and state education standards.
  • Excellent assessment, crisis intervention, and case management skills.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and cultural competency abilities.
  • Proficiency with data-driven planning and counseling software (SIS platforms).
