Harborview University invites applications for a Full-Time Higher Education Lecturer in Computer Science. This is a dynamic, student-centered role dedicated to delivering excellent instruction, developing rigorous curricula, and contributing to the department's scholarly and service missions.
As a member of the Computer Science faculty, you will teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, develop engaging syllabi and assessments, supervise student projects, and participate in program accreditation and program development activities. You will use inclusive teaching practices to support a diverse student body and will leverage digital learning tools to enhance student engagement.
We seek candidates with a passion for teaching, a strong commitment to student success, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines. The ideal candidate will be adept at mentoring students, contributing to curriculum design, and engaging with the local community through outreach and applied projects.
Responsibility
- Deliver high quality lectures and hands-on sessions for undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science.
- Design and continuously improve course syllabi, assignments, assessments, and grading rubrics.
- Mentor and advise students, guiding academic and career planning.
- Develop and implement inclusive, equity-centered teaching strategies and assessments.
- Lead and participate in curriculum development, program review, and accreditation activities.
- Collaborate with faculty on research, grant, and community outreach projects.
- Contribute to service roles within the department and university such as committees and events.
Qualification
- Terminal degree (PhD or ABD) in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience at college or university level; evidence of effective classroom practice.
- Proven ability to design, implement, and assess curricula and learning outcomes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly to diverse learners.
- Experience with online and hybrid instruction using LMS platforms such as Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle.
- Commitment to inclusive pedagogy, student success, and equity in higher education environments.
- Record of scholarly activity or professional practice in the field and willingness to engage in service roles.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and disciplines.
