We are seeking a talented History Professional to join our team in Boston, MA. The role focuses on historical research, scholarly writing, and educational content development for university partners, museums, and public programs. The ideal candidate combines rigorous archival work with engaging storytelling and clear, accurate communication.
As a key member of our humanities department, you will translate complex historical findings into compelling narratives, support teaching initiatives, and contribute to digital humanities projects. You will collaborate with historians, educators, and curators to produce materials that inform and inspire diverse audiences.
Responsibility
- Conduct comprehensive historical research using primary and secondary sources, including archives, libraries, and digital collections.
- Curate and organize archival materials, create metadata, and ensure provenance and data quality.
- Write and edit scholarly articles, blog posts, course materials, and exhibit labels for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with historians, educators, and curators to design educational programs and lectures.
- Develop digital humanities projects, including data visualization and interactive timelines.
- Manage research projects, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring accuracy and compliance with copyright and licensing.
- Support grant reporting and publication processes, including drafting proposals and progress reports.
Qualification
- Master's degree or PhD in History or a related field; equivalent professional experience considered.
- Demonstrated research experience with primary sources and archival collections.
- Strong academic writing, editing, and citation skills (Chicago/Turabian or MLA).
- Experience with digital humanities tools, database management, and metadata standards.
- Ability to communicate complex historical ideas to diverse audiences both verbally and in writing.
- Proven project management and collaboration skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with research databases, library catalogs, and reference management software.
