Inspector of Work (Structural & Geotechnical Works)

This contract role covers the full spectrum from foundation and earthworks to reinforced concrete structures. Key responsibilities include rigorous on-site inspection, quality assurance and documentation, and timely communication of findings to the project team. You will play a pivotal role in preventing defects, managing non-conformances, and supporting commissioning and handover activities. Responsibility
- Conduct on-site inspections of foundations, earthworks, and reinforced concrete structures to verify conformance with design drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Monitor construction activities for structural and geotechnical integrity, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance with project standards.
- Review and approve inspection and test plans, witness tests, and test results; document non-conformances and coordinate corrective actions with engineers.
- Prepare comprehensive daily site diaries, inspection reports, and progress updates for internal teams and clients.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and authorities; facilitate approvals, RFIs, deviations, and change orders as needed.
- Verify materials delivery, storage, handling, and installation in accordance with approved methods and quality requirements.
- Support commissioning and handover activities by confirming that as-built records reflect field conditions and performance criteria.
- Ensure adherence to schedule, budget, and contractual requirements; participate in site meetings and safety briefings.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; minimum 3-5 years of site inspection experience in structural and geotechnical works.
- Professional certification from relevant Malaysian boards (e.g., IEM, CIDB) is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of local codes and standards including the Malaysian Building Code and CIDB standards.
- Experience with QA/QC documentation, inspection reporting, non-conformance management, and site safety programs.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Office, and on-site inspection software; ability to generate precise, clear reports and drawings.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; ability to work with diverse teams.
- Valid site safety training and a commitment to safe work practices.
- Fluency in English; Malay language skills are a plus.
