Job description

Join a renowned national research agency in Singapore as an Integration Engineer (IMT) at the DxD Hub, where cross-disciplinary teams push the boundaries of biomedical technology. As part of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), you will help drive the development of next-generation diagnostic devices, from concept to validated systems ready for clinical and industrial use. The role focuses on system integration across hardware, firmware, and software, ensuring robust interfaces, reliable data flows, and scalable architectures that meet rigorous quality and regulatory standards. The DxD Hub thrives on collaboration between engineers, scientists, and clinicians, offering a unique opportunity to shape platforms that translate biomedical innovations into practical healthcare solutions. The ideal candidate is curious, hands-on, and passionate about building integrated systems that improve patient outcomes while maintaining a disciplined, process-driven approach to development.

Key contributions include designing and implementing end-to-end system integration for IMT platforms and diagnostic devices, establishing comprehensive testing and validation protocols, and documenting interfaces and risk controls to support design verification and regulatory readiness. You will partner with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to ensure seamless interoperability, participate in hardware-in-the-loop experiments, calibration, and troubleshooting, and support rapid prototyping and iteration cycles. This is a role for developers who enjoy solving complex integration challenges in a fast-paced research environment and who are motivated by the impact of biomedical devices on global health.

We offer an inspiring work culture, competitive compensation, and opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and potential involvement in IP development and technology transfer initiatives. If you are ready to leverage your expertise to accelerate breakthroughs in healthcare technology, apply today.

Responsibility

  • Lead end-to-end system integration of IMT platforms and diagnostic devices, translating user needs into robust architectures.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, software, biology) to define interfacing requirements, data flows, and test protocols.
  • Design, implement, and execute comprehensive integration and verification test plans to validate performance and reliability.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, schematics, interface control documents, and risk assessments to support design controls and regulatory readiness.
  • Conduct hardware-in-the-loop experiments, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and sensors.
  • Support rapid prototyping and iteration cycles, balancing time-to-market with quality and safety standards.
  • Assist in technology transfer activities, manufacturing readiness, and scale-up for pilot production.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/Mechatronics, Instrumentation or a related field; 3-7 years of system integration experience, preferably in biotech or medical devices.
  • Strong hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, data acquisition systems, lab instrumentation, and sensor interfacing (I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet).
  • Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, LabVIEW; experience with test automation frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of design controls, risk management, verification and validation, and quality management systems (ISO 13485, IEC 60601 is beneficial).
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary research teams and across vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical thinking; detail-oriented with a focus on reliability and safety.
  • Experience with data analysis, signal processing, and digital-analog interfaces; familiarity with regulatory and validation documentation.
