GlobalLingo Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Interpretation Specialist to join our growing language services team in New York City. This role suits bilingual professionals who excel under pressure and provide flawless interpretation across legal, medical, corporate, and conference settings.
In this role, you will collaborate with clients, project managers, and interpreters to ensure accurate, culturally sensitive language delivery. You will also support booth setups, terminology databases, and quality assurance processes.
What you’ll do is deliver real-time interpretation, develop glossaries, and uphold confidentiality and ethical standards while representing our brand with professionalism.
Responsibility
- Provide accurate simultaneous or consecutive interpretation for in-person, video, and telephonic engagements.
- Prepare and maintain domain-specific glossaries and memory aids to ensure consistency.
- Set up and operate interpretation equipment, including booths and headsets, in collaboration with event staff.
- Review client materials in advance, research terminology, and brief speaking teams on cultural expectations.
- Deliver post-event debriefs and participate in quality assurance processes.
- Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, and impartiality at all times.
- Coach and mentor junior interpreters when needed and contribute to team training.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Interpretation, Linguistics, or related field; or at least 5 years of professional interpreting experience.
- Fluency in English plus at least one additional language; certifications such as CCHI, NBCMI, or AIIC a plus.
- Proven experience in simultaneous and consecutive interpretation across multiple domains (healthcare, legal, corporate).
- Experience with interpretation equipment and software (interpreting platforms, booth management, remote interpreting tools).
- Excellent memory, note-taking, and public speaking skills; ability to think quickly and maintain composure under pressure.
- Strong research skills and ability to learn terminology quickly; attention to cultural nuance and ethics.
- Willingness to travel for events; remote work options available with flexible scheduling.
