Lumina Language Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Interpretation Specialist to join our dynamic language services team in New York, NY. This full-time role delivers accurate and culturally nuanced interpretation across conferences, corporate meetings, legal, and medical settings. You will interpret with professionalism, discretion, and fidelity to client intent, ensuring flawless communication for multilingual participants.
As part of our client-centered approach, you will collaborate with clients, project managers, and fellow interpreters to plan, prepare glossaries, and execute interpretation with exceptional quality.
Responsibility
- Deliver accurate consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for meetings, conferences, hearings, and events across multiple industries.
- Prepare and manage glossaries and terminology for assigned projects, researching industry-specific terms as needed.
- Set up and operate interpretation equipment (booths, microphones, headsets) and remote interpreting platforms when required.
- Coordinate with clients and participants to anticipate needs, clarify terminology, and ensure smooth flow of communication.
- Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professional ethics in all assignments.
- Provide post-session notes and debrief with project managers to ensure continuous quality improvement.
- Mentor junior interpreters when available and support team coordination for large-scale events.
- Adhere to client-specific workflows, schedules, and quality standards to deliver exceptional service.
Qualification
- Bachelorβs degree in interpretation, linguistics, or related field; professional interpretation certification is a plus.
- Minimum 3 years of interpretation experience in professional settings (legal, medical, corporate, or conference interpreting).
- Fluency in English plus at least one additional language; native-level proficiency preferred for source or target language.
- Excellent memory, note-taking, research skills, and ability to maintain accuracy under time pressure.
- Familiarity with interpretation equipment and remote platforms (e.g., Zoom, Interprefy) and the ability to troubleshoot minor issues.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and customer-service orientation.
- Ability to travel to events as needed and manage flexible scheduling.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work effectively in fast-paced environments.
