Responsibility
- Provide consecutive and simultaneous interpretation for on-site events, virtual meetings, and conference calls.
- Prepare glossaries and manage terminology for specialized subjects.
- Ensure confidentiality, neutrality, and ethical standards in all assignments.
- Operate and troubleshoot interpretation equipment, including headsets and interpretation booths.
- Deliver accurate interpretation in healthcare, legal, financial, and corporate contexts with cultural sensitivity.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and fellow interpreters to ensure seamless delivery.
- Conduct post-event debriefs and contribute to quality improvement efforts.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in interpretation, translation, linguistics, or related field; or 3+ years of professional interpretation experience.
- Professional interpretation certification preferred (e.g., CI, AIIC, or equivalent).
- Fluent in English and at least one additional language commonly used in Toronto (e.g., French, Mandarin, Spanish); additional languages a plus.
- Excellent listening, memory, note-taking, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to interpret in high-stakes settings with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Proficient in interpretation technologies (Zoom, remote interpretation platforms, and equipment).
- Willingness to travel to on-site assignments and events as needed.
