Global Ledger Media is seeking an ambitious Investigative Journalist to join our award winning newsroom in New York City. You will pursue impactful stories that inform public discourse, uncover corruption, and illuminate accountability across institutions. Responsibility
- Produce in-depth investigative reports that reveal important truths and hold power to account.
- Develop and nurture confidential sources; conduct interviews; verify information.
- Collaborate with data journalists to analyze documents, datasets, and public records.
- Write clear, accurate, and compelling copy for online, print, and broadcast platforms.
- Edit and mentor junior reporters; contribute to newsroom training.
- Coordinate with editors, designers, and producers to craft multimedia stories.
- Break news when required; manage multiple investigations with tight deadlines.
Qualification
- 5+ years of experience in investigative journalism or equivalent newsroom work.
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Proven track record of investigative reporting with publishable work in reputable outlets.
- Strong sources development skills; experience with FOIA and public records requests.
- Proficiency in data journalism; comfortable with Excel, SQL, or Python basics.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities with high ethics and accuracy.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and travel as needed.
- Knowledge of media law and newsroom ethics.
