Global Press Network is seeking a seasoned Senior News Reporter to join our fast-paced newsroom in New York City. You will break timely news, produce in-depth features, and contribute to a culture of accuracy, fairness, and impact. This role blends traditional reporting with multimedia storytelling, data-driven investigations, and collaborative newsroom leadership.
What you’ll do:
- Generate, report, and write compelling, accurate stories across breaking news and enterprise features.
- Develop strong relationships with sources, editors, and cross-department colleagues to ensure trusted coverage.
- Plan and execute investigative and data-driven stories with clear storytelling and ethical rigor.
- Collaborate with editors on editorial packages, podcasts, video, and interactive formats.
- Mentor junior reporters and interns, providing feedback and newsroom training.
- Maintain strict adherence to AP Style and newsroom standards, including fact-checking and editorial review.
- Meet tight deadlines while sustaining high-quality reporting and originality.
Responsibility
- Generate and produce timely, accurate news stories for multiple platforms.
- Develop and maintain sources; verify facts through rigorous editorial standards.
- Lead investigative projects with data analysis and corroborating documentation.
- Coordinate with editors on story angles, timelines, and publication strategy.
- Train and mentor junior reporters and interns.
- Oversee multimedia components (photos, video, podcasts) to enrich storytelling.
- Uphold ethics, transparency, and accountability in all reporting.
Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of professional journalism experience, preferably in a metropolitan newsroom.
- Exceptional writing, reporting, and storytelling skills with a strong portfolio of enterprise work.
- Proven ability to work under deadline pressure and manage multiple assignments.
- Experience with investigative reporting, data analysis, and sourcing credible information.
- Excellent understanding of media ethics, privacy, and legal considerations.
- Proficiency with CMS, social media tools, and basic photo/video editing.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to mentor others.
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.
