Northstar Media Group is seeking a seasoned Senior Journalist to lead high-impact investigations, craft compelling, data-driven stories, and mentor fellow reporters. This full-time role is based in New York City with hybrid options. You will collaborate with editors, digital teams, and visual journalists to publish across print, digital, and audio/video platforms. Responsibility
- Lead investigative reporting projects from concept to publication, including sourcing, data gathering, and story framing.
- Develop and maintain trusted sources across beats, ensuring ethical and accurate reporting.
- Produce multi-format stories for print, digital, audio, and video platforms.
- Collaborate with editors and visual teams to design compelling narratives and graphics.
- Mentor junior reporters and provide timely feedback and coaching.
- Meet strict deadlines while maintaining newsroom standards for accuracy and fairness.
- Pitch and execute data-driven investigations using public records, databases, and analytics.
- Oversee editorial quality, copy editing, and adherence to AP style.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 5-7 years of newsroom experience, with a track record of impactful investigations.
- Strong reporting, interviewing, and verification skills; proficient in AP style.
- Experience with data journalism, FOIA requests, and public records research.
- Excellent storytelling abilities across print, digital, and multimedia formats.
- Strong digital skills including social media, SEO basics, and audience engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Legal and ethical judgment, with commitment to accuracy and fairness.
