Join a premier NYC dance studio as a Lead Dance Instructor. We seek a dynamic, seasoned dancer/educator to inspire technique, artistry, and confidence across all levels. This role blends rigorous technique development with creative repertoire, empowering students to perform with precision and expressiveness.
Based in Manhattan, you’ll design curricula, mentor teachers, choreograph performances, and contribute to an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Responsibility
- Lead and teach daily classes across multiple styles (ballet, contemporary, hip-hop) for ages 6+ and adults.
- Develop progressive curricula and seasonal repertoire for student showcases and competitions.
- Choreograph original pieces for company performances and community events.
- Coach audition preparation and performance readiness, including technique, musicality, and stage presence.
- Mentor junior instructors and supervise class scheduling, safety, and studio operations.
- Collaborate with artistic directors on programming and annual recital planning.
- Foster an inclusive, positive studio culture that motivates dancers to excel.
Qualification
- Minimum 5 years of professional dance experience with demonstrated teaching ability.
- Proficiency in at least two styles (e.g., ballet and contemporary; or hip-hop and jazz).
- Strong choreography skills and experience staging performances for 50+ dancers.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to design age-appropriate, differentiated curricula for diverse learners.
- BS/BA in Dance, Education, or related field preferred; relevant certifications accepted.
- Work authorization for the U.S. and availability to work evenings and weekends.
