We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Lead Dance Instructor to join our prestigious NYC studio. This full-time role blends exceptional technique, creative programming, and student development to deliver transformative dance experiences for ages 6 through professional dancers.
Based in our state-of-the-art Manhattan studio, you will lead classes, mentor teachers, design curricula, and collaborate with performance teams to produce standout showcases each season. We offer competitive compensation, professional growth, and a vibrant artistic community.
Responsibility
- Lead and choreograph high-quality classes across styles (contemporary, hip-hop, and foundational ballet) for all levels.
- Design, update, and oversee progressive curricula; manage scheduling and instructor assignments.
- Mentor and develop junior instructors through observations, feedback, and training sessions.
- Plan, stage, and coach student performances, auditions, and community showcases.
- Ensure safety and injury prevention through proper warm-ups, technique cues, and conditioning.
- Collaborate with studio leadership on programming, marketing alignment, and recruitment efforts.
- Track student progress, maintain attendance records, and report outcomes to leadership.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in dance or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience in a studio setting.
- 5+ years of teaching experience with a proven track record of developing dancers’ technique and performance skills.
- Strong versatility across dance styles with the ability to choreograph for performances.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentorship abilities; able to inspire students and staff.
- Availability to teach evenings and weekends; flexible scheduling.
- Knowledge of injury prevention, conditioning, and safe practice guidelines.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
