As the Lead Mechanic, you will coordinate repairs, plan preventive maintenance, diagnose complex issues, and ensure adherence to manufacturer specifications and safety standards. You will mentor junior technicians, review work orders for accuracy, and optimize workflows to reduce downtime. Your hands-on supervision helps ensure every service meets high standards of workmanship and customer satisfaction.
You will work closely with service advisors to translate technical findings into clear timelines and accurate estimates for clients, while maintaining a well-organized, safe, and efficient workshop environment. Proficiency with diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, and diagnostics, along with familiarity with diagnostic tools, will be essential for success. You should be comfortable managing inventory and parts, and you may oversee equipment operation such as forklifts and hoists.

Responsibility
- Lead daily workshop operations, assigning tasks, managing workload, and ensuring timely repair and maintenance of all vehicles.
- Supervise a team of technicians, provide coaching, review work orders, and enforce safety and quality standards.
- Plan and supervise preventive maintenance programs to maximize fleet uptime and reduce unexpected breakdowns.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and workshop equipment.
- Coordinate with service advisors and customers to communicate repair plans, timelines, and estimates.
- Maintain inventory and order parts to minimize downtime and support efficient repairs.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal procedures.
- Mentor junior staff and promote a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork.
Qualification
- Proven experience as a lead mechanic or senior technician in a workshop or service center.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical/electronic diagnostics.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools (e.g., OBD scanners, multimeters) and workshop equipment.
- Effective leadership and communication skills; ability to train and supervise a team.
- Skilled in preventive maintenance planning and root cause analysis.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
