Job description

Join Molex in Perai, Penang as a Lead / Senior Process Engineer and drive world-class process innovation across electronics manufacturing. You will own process planning, design and optimization of manufacturing workflows, and lead automation initiatives that ensure top-quality products are launched efficiently while maintaining manufacturing excellence. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who can guide cross-functional teams, translate customer requirements into scalable processes, and partner with global operations to scale new products from NPI to high-volume production.

As a senior member of the process engineering group, you will shape technical roadmaps, lead process characterization, and implement Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize yield, cycle times, and cost. You will collaborate with R&D, tooling, quality, and supply chain to ensure robust process controls, process validation, and compliant manufacturing processes. You will own data-driven decision making, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives that elevate product quality and delivery performance.

The successful candidate will evaluate and justify capital expenditures, lead process validation and qualification activities, and implement automation upgrades and instrumentation to achieve faster cycles and reduced variability. You will mentor junior engineers, supervise process engineers in shift environments, and drive safety, reliability, and sustainability in a high-mix, high-volume manufacturing setting.

Responsibility

  • Lead process design, optimization, and troubleshooting for new product introductions (NPI) and existing lines to ensure robust, scalable manufacturing.
  • Define and implement process controls, DOE studies, CAPA plans, FMEA, and SPC to improve yield and reduce variability.
  • Evaluate, justify, and manage capital equipment purchases and automation projects to reduce cycle times and energize production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with R&D, QA, tooling, and supply chain to translate product requirements into repeatable, validated processes.
  • Develop standardized work, process documentation, control plans, and training materials for operations teams.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to execute process validation, qualification, and scale-up activities for new product launches.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers; drive a culture of continuous improvement and safe, compliant manufacturing.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (Yield, OEE, cycle time, scrap) and drive data-driven improvement initiatives.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of process engineering experience in electronics manufacturing, plastics, or high-mix/low-volume environments; experience with NPI is prized.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma (Black Belt or equivalent), DOE, SPC, FMEA, CAPA; proven track record of delivering improvements.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, actuators, PLCs, MES/automation integration; experience evaluating and implementing capital equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills; able to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Data-driven mindset with proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, JMP) and root-cause analysis.
  • Familiar with quality systems and industry standards (ISO 9001, IATF 16949) and EHS compliance.
  • Ability to mentor others, manage multiple priorities, and operate with high integrity and accountability.
