Job description

Brookfield Maternity Center is seeking a dedicated Licensed Midwife to join our premier birth center in New York City. You will provide comprehensive midwifery care across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, support natural birth when appropriate, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, evidence-based care.

Responsibility

  • Provide evidence-based midwifery care across prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including birth planning and risk assessment.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor fetal well-being, and respond to obstetric concerns with timely escalation as needed.
  • Support labor and birth, including monitoring, pain management options, and active facilitation of physiologic birth when safe.
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, nurses, doulas, and other members of the care team to coordinate care and ensure smooth patient experiences.
  • Educate patients and families on pregnancy, labor options, newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum wellness; provide individualized counseling and resources.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant documentation and uphold licensing, safety, and infection control standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to a culture of continuous learning.

Qualification

  • Current New York State license as a CNM or eligibility for CNM certification.
  • Master's degree in Nurse-Midwifery or equivalent; 3+ years of clinical midwifery experience preferred.
  • Board certification or eligibility through ACNM or similar professional body.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust with diverse patient populations.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based obstetric guidelines and newborn care.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and quality documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a high-demand, on-call environment; culturally competent and adaptable.
  • Valid CPR/BLS certification; additional certifications such as NRP considered a plus.
