MapleLeaf Language Solutions is seeking a meticulous Localization Translator to join our Toronto-based team. In this role, you will translate and localize content from English into French (Canada) and collaborate with project managers to deliver accurate, culturally appropriate translations for marketing, technical, and legal materials. You will also help maintain glossaries and translation memories to ensure consistency across projects.
As a key member of our language services team, you will work with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure high-quality outputs that align with client brand voice and regulatory requirements.
Responsibility
- Translate and localize content from English to French (Canada) with high accuracy and cultural relevance.
- Manage and maintain glossaries and termbases; update translation memories to ensure consistency.
- Collaborate with project managers and editors to meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Perform self-review and assist QA checks with native speakers; respond to feedback.
- Localize formatting, images, and metadata for various platforms (web, marketing collateral, technical docs).
- Adhere to style guides, brand voice, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide linguistic feedback to clients and SMEs to improve future translations.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or related field; or 2+ years of professional translation experience.
- Native or near-native French (Canada) with excellent English proficiency.
- Experience with CAT tools (SDL Trados Studio, MemoQ, Memsource) and TM management.
- Strong terminology management skills; ability to create and maintain glossaries and termbases.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with QA processes and style guides; ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of localization for marketing, tech, and legal domains; strong research skills.
- Excellent communication and time-management abilities; comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
