Job description
Join Skyline Freight & Logistics as a Logistics Operations Manager in Chicago. You will optimize inbound and outbound shipments, streamline warehouse processes, and drive service levels from dock to delivery. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on execution, offering a clear path to leadership and measurable impact.
In this role, you will partner across functions to improve reliability, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction through data-driven decisions and a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibility
- Oversee daily inbound and outbound logistics activities, including transportation planning and route optimization.
- Monitor carrier performance, negotiate rates, and ensure service levels meet customer expectations.
- Lead warehouse operations, inventory control, and accuracy initiatives using WMS and related tools.
- Collaborate with procurement, sales, and customer service to ensure on-time order fulfillment.
- Implement continuous improvement projects to reduce transit times and costs through data-driven insights.
- Develop staffing plans, supervise logistics staff, and ensure safety and compliance.
- Maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular performance reporting to leadership.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of WMS/TMS systems; SAP experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in data analysis and Excel; experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and vendor management skills.
- Ability to prioritize, adapt to changing priorities, and work under pressure.
- APICS CPIM/CSCP or equivalent certification is a plus.
