PrimeRoute Logistics is seeking a Logistics Operations Manager to lead our Chicago-based fulfillment and distribution operations. You will optimize warehousing, transportation, and inventory processes to deliver exceptional service while driving efficiency and cost savings. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on execution, data-driven decision making, and a commitment to safety and quality across multiple sites.
As a key member of the operations leadership team, you will partner with warehousing, carrier, and supplier teams to design scalable processes, monitor performance, and implement continuous improvements that support high-volume, multi-site operations.
Responsibility
- Manage daily logistics operations across warehousing, inbound/outbound transportation, and inventory control to ensure accurate, on-time fulfillment.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle times, errors, and cost per order.
- Develop capacity plans, staffing plans, and standard operating procedures aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with carriers, 3PL partners, and suppliers to optimize service levels and total landed cost.
- Oversee WMS/SAP or equivalent systems, ensuring data accuracy, cycle counting, and real-time reporting.
- Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-control initiatives without compromising service quality.
- Drive Lean/Six Sigma-based improvements and mentor cross-functional teams across multiple facilities.
- Ensure regulatory compliance (DOT, hazmat, OSHA) and uphold warehouse safety standards.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations; minimum 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of WMS/SAP or equivalent systems and data analytics (Excel, Power BI).
- Proven track record in cost optimization, vendor management, and service-level improvements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and people leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with strong problem-solving and project management abilities.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, safety standards, and warehouse safety best practices.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings/weekends as required.
