Responsibility
- Lead and optimize voyage planning using ECDIS, ARPA, AIS, and other navigational tools.
- Monitor real-time vessel positions, weather, currents, and traffic to minimize risk and fuel consumption.
- Collaborate with bridge teams, fleet operations, and port agents to ensure compliance with SOLAS, COLREGs, and company policies.
- Develop and maintain navigational standards, SOPs, and training materials.
- Conduct risk assessments, navigational audits, and incident investigations to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide expert guidance during critical operations, including in restricted waters, hazardous routes, and emergency procedures.
- Support vessel performance analysis, route optimization, and performance metrics reporting.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Nautical Science, Maritime Engineering, or a related field; professional navigator license preferred (e.g., STCW II/2 or equivalent).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in maritime navigation, AIS, ECDIS, ARPA use, and voyage planning.
- Strong knowledge of SOLAS, COLREGs, meteorology, currents, and tides; experience with bridge resource management.
- Proficiency with ECDIS, ARPA radar, AIS, ship automation, and era-appropriate navigation software.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and situational awareness skills; ability to perform under pressure.
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities; experience coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Fluent in English; ability to train junior engineers and navigators and prepare clear navigational reports.
